Langford Exhibition of Quilts and Flowers - 13 June 2015

Exhibition to celebrate our 10th Anniversary

Saturday 13th June 2015
St Andrews Church, Langford, Beds

We exhibited 60 quilts, 28 Linus quilts, 10-15 wall hangings and 25+ bags, cushions etc.

There were numerous complimentary comments and many people wrote in the Visitors Book. At a rough count there were well over 200 visitors despite the rain. £254.30p was raised by donations for the church. Not all quilts had a written account of the story behind the design, preparation and sewing of the finished piece and people seemed to want to know who made them. It was apparent by the comments of the visitors that the information was read and appreciated by many.

The Sales Table took approximately £350 and raised £70.80p for the group. Not much was left at the end of the day. Bags were very popular but there were not enough aprons for sale. It was agreed to ask members if they would like a stall at Biggleswade Market or a Craft Fare during the year that we do not have an exhibition.

Wendy has received a letter from Sarah Riches thanking the Group for the donation of £255 and con-gratulating us on a very successful show. There was also a letter in the Chronicle with a photograph of the Linus Quilts.

Refreshments were supplied in the Church Hall by Pat Warren, organiser, Ann, Margaret, Molly and Judith. They all worked very hard and did a great job. Many cakes and savouries were brought in by members, most of which were sold. £180 was raised for club funds.

Lucy Gurney was busy all day on her Secret Garden Fabric stall in the Church Hall where many visi-tors increased their stash.

Ron and Robin worked very hard and were both key to the rapidity of the setting up and dismantling at the end. Our sincere thanks go to them both.

The flowers were beautiful and helped achieve the wonderful ambience in the church.
